【1年生】Negotiating a Globalized World with SAP

Do you think that culture in Japan is changing?  What is Japanese culture? Do you think that Japan is becoming more internationalized? Do you think that Japan will be different in the future? Is it important to learn foreign languages at school? If you are interested in these questions, then the Salesian Academic Program (SAP) is for you!

In the first year of SAP we explore issues relating to globalization in society. During the second and third semester, students were tasked with making a poster presentation that explored an issue related to globalization in Japan. For this project, students had to conduct field research by asking members of the public for their ideas and opinions. We split into two groups and went to either Seijogakuen-mae station or Futagotamagawa Station. Initially, some students were very shy, but they soon realised that most people were very friendly and eager to answer their questions.  Students received many interesting and insightful answers.

Using the information gathered from these interviews, students then analysed their data and made posters featuring graphs and their research conclusions. Ultimately, each group presented their poster to teachers, other students, and members of the business community on a special day at the school called Don Bosco Day.

SAP class is great opportunity to think deeply and explore issues in society while also improving your skills in information analysis and making presentation.
